BARBARA J. KASTAMA

Areas of Practice
Barbara’s practice focuses on employment and commercial law. She counsels clients in a range of employment matters, including employment agreements, severance agreements, and handbooks, and disputes involving wrongful termination and wage claims. Barbara’s commercial practice includes preparation of governance documents and representing clients in contract, partnership, and other business disputes. In addition, she has experience litigating and resolving timber trespass and boundary disputes.

Education
Barbara graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.  She received her undergraduate degree in business administration from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.



Memberships and Activities
Barbara is a member of the Pierce County Bar Association. She was a member of the planning committee for the Pacific Coast Employment and Labor Conference in 2015 and 2016. She has served as a director on the boards of the Puyallup Library and Good Samaritan Hospital.

Personal
Barbara was raised in Puyallup, and is an alumna of Rogers High School. She lives in Puyallup with her husband, Jim. In addition to her law practice, she taught Advance Placement courses at Puyallup School District, and was the first teacher in the district to receive a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification. She also served as a legal consultant to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Kuala Lumpur. She aspires to be a master gardener one day.
