What To Do After a Car Accident: a Step-By-Step Guide
-
Check yourself and any passengers for emergent injuries. Call 911 if you or anyone is seriously injured.
-
If able to do so safely, move your vehicle off to the side of the road.
-
Call the police. If they do not respond to the scene, file an online collision report. It is important for this event to be documented.
-
Take pictures and or video of all vehicles involved, take down names and numbers of those involved or witnesses if any, and then collect auto insurance information. Important to get the at-fault party’s policy information in the case they do not file a claim. If comfortable doing so, file a claim with your insurance even if not at fault.
-
Seek immediate medical attention with an ER if life threatening. If not, an Urgent Care is a great alternative. The sooner you are seen the better!
